![]() I lubricate all Harbor Freight ratchets upon purchase, which makes most of the ratchet less loudly. I exchanged both (screw extractor had 90 day warranty) without any problems. I've bought some Harbor Freight tools and had problems with torque wrenches and a screw extractor set. And scan your receipts, because some fade (though giving them your phone number on purchase and warrantying bypasses the need for warranty exchanges, though I always like paper documentation in hand). FYI, their customer service phone line takes the better part of an hour to contact. ![]() Flat rate, 3-5 business day shipping is $7, which is cheaper than gas/bridge toll for me, so I use that to avoid having to make a special trip just to shop Harbor Freight. There are free items, now flashlights, tarps, and tape measures for any purchase and 20% off coupons all the time for most items. And sign up for their e-mail/text alerts about sales. Just in case, try to buy only lifetime warranty stuff there, which isn't hard to do. There's a sale now for a basic tool set, 3/8" 6-15mm for $4 with lifetime warranty. GarageJournal wisely warned me to avoid anything electric or electronic at Harbor Freight, although the free LED lights work okay (so far). That said, I've only broken one chrome socket, a no-brand name about 10-13mm made in Taiwan in the mid 2000's, but can't recall the circumstances. I never use impact tools on non-impact, chrome sockets. Honestly, if Kobalt works well for you, continue on buying it. Nothing wrong with it, but the bar isn't super high. IMO Kobalt, husky, etc are just store brand stuff. USA williams are something I've been buying more lately - very high quality stuff. For home use, I can't imagine much out there would not meet your needs. Most everything I've used works as expected. IMO there aren't any major losers out there. Low $40s for that set via toolsdelivered. ![]() The "all numbers" part number williams are good stuff too. I'd consider other brands but the USA williams is so cheap and I have had spotty tool-truck service in the past. 8-19 via tools-delivered was in the low $60s. I replaced them with USA williams to treat myself, and compare. ![]() It's like $15 out the door for a 10-19mm set. IIRC, the color can be washed off with brake clean if you so desire. 4 maybe? I'm a mechanic, so I wear out basically anything and everything. Someone at the company should be fired.Pittsburgh pro sockets are of good quality, I used the goofy multi colored ones daily for several years before I wore a few of them out. Does not get the job done, might even make things worse. (C).Ģ stars – Falls short of expectations and needs improvement. Might be short in design, cost, longevity, or support. Has some shortcomings but gets the job done. Better than the competition and solves the problem. Better than the competition in all aspects, design, cost, operation, and support (A+).Ĥ stars – Nicely done. I also was disappointed that the two impact adapters are loose and do not attach to the socket racket, which means they are more likely to get misplaced.ĥ stars – Exceeds all expectations. Although it’s only $20 bucks (at the time of this review) it likely will be a low use tool. ![]() These are a special use tool that is indispensable when needed but not really for everyday use. The idea is to grip the bolt tightly for removal. As you can see from the photo below a new bolt head just barely inserts. The sides of the socket are tapered which grip a damaged or rusted bolt head. I also like that the socket size is printed on the side of the socket in a large easy to read font. You can hear the superior heat treatment when you clack the sockets together. I really like the quality of this Husky extraction bit set. Excellent design does great job on rusted extraction, but this is a specialty tool and likely low use. ![]()
